Tayfun Pirselimoğlu
Pirselimoğlu was born in Trabzon in 1959. He graduated from Middle East Technical University after which he went to Vienna and studied painting at Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst. He started his film career as a scriptwriter and directed his first short film 'Dayim' (My Uncle) in 1999 and then 'Il Silenzio e d'Oro' (Silent is Golden) in 2002. He wrote and directed his first feature film 'In Nowhereland’ in 2002.
FILMS
After his first feature 'In Nowhereland’, he wrote, directed and produced the trilogy of 'conscience and death' including 'Riza' (2007) 'Haze' (2009, Turkey-Greece Co-Production), and ‘Hair’(2010, Turkey-Greece Co-Production). With the films, he has been selected and awarded by many festivals such as Berlinale Forum, Locarno and Istanbul Film Festival. Pirselimoğlu was also awarded by many national and international festivals with his films I'm Not Him (2013), Sideway (2017) and Kerr (2021). His latest film, Kerr, was also selected as the nominee from Turkey to the 95. Academy Awards Best International Feature.

KERR
CAN is a sole witness of a murder in the town where he came for the funeral of his old father. The murderer showing no interest in CAN's presence quits the place, calmly. The police he applied then, doesn't allow him to leave after his testimony. He meets various strange friends of his father in the town where he's trapped thereafter and some weird things happen right after another. On the other hand, a quarantine is declared due to rabid dogs being at large. The whole town turns into purgatory with no exit is almost at the edge of insanity.

SIDEWAY
The residents of a small town set between a stormy sea and an ominous forest are becoming insane. They are convinced that successive signs appearing in the town are indications of doomsday.

I’M NOT HIM
Nihat, an introverted employee in a hospital cafeteria, is confused by Ayşe, a mysterious woman who just started working there as a dishwasher. When Nihat discovers a picture of the woman’s husband and realizes that he looks astoundingly like him, their relationship becomes even more toxic.
BOOKS
Pirselimoğlu wrote six novels and three story books. His third novel, Melancholia, was translated into and published in Greek.
EXHIBITIONS
Pirselimoğlu held various exhibitions in different cities of the world. He is one of the founders of the independent art initiative of Akademie Genius, where he gave lectures on scriptwriting, cinema, and painting.
